Systems Monitoring Engineer

Schedule: Monday - Saturday Flexible

Comments: Position primarily works out of the Salt Lake International Center (5146 W Amelia Earheart Dr) with occasional travel to the Operation Center.

Brief Description:

Apply strong system engineering skills to the design, development, implementation, integrate and support of system monitoring applications such as HP Openview, HP SIM, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), and others. Position will resolve problems which require an intimate knowledge of varying system and network technologies. Candidate will have the ability to work independently and in conjunction with a team of engineers. Candidate will exhibit a strong willingness to learn new technologies as they relate to this position.

Required Knowledge

•  Advanced understanding of TCP/IP.
•  Understanding of Solaris, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
•  Bash, Perl, or other scripting experience.

Experience Required

•  Administrator level knowledge of HP OpenView Suite of products including: HP OVU, HP OVW, HP NNM, HP OVIS, HP OVPI
•  Experience in the analysis, design, implementation and support of System Monitoring applications including Microsoft Operations Manager
•  Universal Configuration Management Database experience
•  Openview Operations: experience with building and managing HP OpenView monitoring templates; adding/changing managed nodes
•  OpenView Internet Services: high level experience with probe target configuration; probe server setup and configuration; alert integration with OpenView Operations
•  Must possess excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills
•  Application development or engineering experience, baseline support experience, demonstrated customer communication skills, and excellent interpersonal communications

•  Well organized, with good verbal and written communications skills.
•  Ability to prioritize and plan projects effectively.
