America First Credit Union is proud to serve the faculty, staff, and students of Robert O. Gibson Middle School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Through the Clark County School District's Focus School Project, America First's support of the Gibson student body includes facilitating activities such as the annual Backpack Drive, Turkey Trot, Ham Run, the Holiday Card Project, and the National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony
Additionally, students regularly visit the offices of the credit union, giving them a first-hand look at the importance of financial responsibility. And with the economic literacy programs offered by America First, students have bolstered their ability to excel in academics and plan for their futures.
This partnership also provides support for the exceptionally talented and dedicated educators at Gibson. Dr. Linda Archambault, principal, was recently awarded the prestigious 2012 National Middle Level Principal of the Year. The award, presented by MetLife and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, celebrates significant contributions to student achievement. Archambault is praised for taking one of the most dangerous middle schools in the country and turning it into a place where students make the most of a safe learning environment. She restored dilapidated buildings, got a largely Hispanic parent population past the language barrier and actively participating in education, built camaraderie between the faculty, decreased discipline referrals, and raised test scores and attendance over the last five years.
America First is proud to sponsor Gibson Middle School and congratulates Dr. Linda Archambault on this outstanding honor.
