At America First, we’re committed to helping members recognize the warning signs of suspicious activity and take steps to protect your personal information & financial assets.
Scams intended to access accounts and steal money are unfortunately common. These include:
Changes to wire transfers
Last-minute communications from financial institutions regarding wiring instructions can be suspicious. Always contact providers at verified numbers or websites to double-check any notification.
Spoofed email
Watch out for emails that come from names that look legitimate but have different addresses, misspellings, or variations on organizational names. These are red flags and may be fraudulent attempts to impersonate.
Too good to be true
Loan modification offers featuring lower interest rates or reduced monthly payments, often backed with threats or a sense of urgency, ask you to send funds by unconventional methods such as cryptocurrency, person-to-person apps & random transfers. Over time, falling victim to these schemes can lead to financial ruin.
If you receive unsolicited messages about your account status, pending amounts due, or other related issues, don't engage—contact us directly at 1-800-999-3961 and forward it to phishing@americafirst.com.
