What You Need to Know about Overdrafts and Overdraft Fees

Your Checking Account has Overdraft Service. With this feature, the credit union may, at its discretion, pay overdrafts on eligible accounts. We do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction, even if the credit union has paid such overdrafts. Fees, charges, and each paid check or item will be included. We may refuse to pay an overdraft at any time, although we may have paid these overdrafts previously.
The following transactions may be covered under this service:

- Other payments or withdrawals authorized by you against your Checking Account

Debit card transactions will not be authorized and paid as part of Overdraft Service unless you specifically request that we do so by opting in.
If you would like America First to authorize and pay overdrafts on your debit card transactions, you may sign up online, click the button below or visit one of our branches. This allows us to process debit card transactions for members who have opted in and are without available funds. Without your consent, your debit card transactions will be denied if you do not have sufficient funds.

Overdraft Service FAQs

- Added security - May provide funds to tide you over or pay unexpected expenses.
- Offers convenience - May give you uninterrupted coverage for debit card purchases when you lack sufficient funds.
- Eliminates embarrassment - May help avoid the awkwardness of a merchant declining your transaction.
There is no cost to opt in to allow us to pay overdraft debit card items. If you do take advantage of this service through checks, ACH transactions, other authorized withdrawals, and payments, or debit cards, a $25 charge per presentment will be assessed if both your Checking and Line of Credit have been exhausted and we take your account into a negative balance. Most members never use Overdraft Service and therefore do not pay fees, but it is nice to know that if it does happen, you are covered.
Before opting in to Overdraft Service for your debit cards, you can view and print a disclosure with important details. You will receive a confirmation letter if you sign up.
