Here are some tips to help prevent fraud, including these common scams:
Order confirmations.
Unexpected calls/texts/emails regarding unauthorized purchases that you’re asked to immediately confirm or cancel. You’ll be expected to make payments, provide information, install software, or buy gift cards. Don’t.
Remember, if you get correspondence about an order or issue you weren't expecting, verify the legitimacy of the company & transaction. America First will not initiate contact with you and request sensitive personal information.
Tech support.
Scammers create fake websites claiming to provide tech support for digital devices. Consumers who land on these pages are lured to contact the criminals who would steal your resources. Refuse to take the bait.
False urgency.
This is an intentional tactic of persuasion. Be wary any time someone tries convincing you to act now and resist these schemes.
