At America First, we’re here to help you take steps to safeguard personal information and financial assets.
During spring, there is a sense of optimism and renewal. However, it’s also a time when scammers become increasingly active, preying on consumers using sophisticated tactics.
Whether it’s a too-good-to-be-true travel package or a fraudulent tax refund offer, the variety and creativity of thieves is always on display.
Protecting yourself
- Never share your personal information over the phone unless you are absolutely sure of the caller’s identity and legitimacy.
- Remember the IRS typically first contacts people by mail, not by phone. An unexpected call from someone demanding immediate payment is a red flag.
- If you get suspicious communications, report them to the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov.
- Don’t accept unsolicited communications about your America First account status, pending amounts due, or other related issues—contact us directly at 1-800-999-3961 and forward messages to phishing@americafirst.com.
Your security is our priority. And staying alert is one of the best defenses. Visit americafirst.com/about/ security for news and updates about these issues.
